Global Rise: Stories for the Future

At the Columbia Climate School, Pilcher teaches Storytelling Arts in an interdisciplinary graduate course to explore a popular cultural translation of climate science. This led to her co-founding Global Rise: Stories for the Future, a company that works with creatives across media to explore the role of science, humanities, and the arts in crafting rich climate narratives. Global Rise is interested in the systems and the complexity of our world as a key part of shifting culture to mitigate and adapt to climate change. At the Climate School she has partnered with meteorologist, Andrew Kruczkiewicz, on a research project, “Storming the Apocalypse: Disasters, Risk Perception, and Cultural Infrastructure.”
